Civil War Sewing Kit of John E. Hobson

Referred to by soldiers during the war as a Housewife. This one is a hand-sewn folding cloth wallet with pockets and flaps, made of red cotton with blue trim and the monogram J.E.H. stitched in green, includes 6 needles, 3.75" x 9" fully open and 3.75" x 3" closed. 

John E. Hobson, an 18 year old cutler from Buckland, MA, mustered into K Company, Mass. 60th Infantry on July 22, 1864.

Condition: Scattered holes in cotton.
